USNA Navs - Who We Are

One But Many

One Calling ... One Lord Jesus Christ ... One Gospel; But many ... Multicultural ... Midshipmen, Faculty, Staff ... Women, Men ... Ethnically Diverse ... All Nations ...

Each One, Make One; Every Disciple a Disciplemaker!

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.  And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to promise. (Galatians 3:28-29 NASB)

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. (1 Corinthians 12:4-6 ESV)

I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings. (1 Corinthians 9:22-23 ESV)

There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. (Ephesians 4:4-6 ESV)

Our Purpose

"To know Christ, make Him known, and help others do the same."®

The overall purpose of Navs at the US Naval Academy is threefold: First, to help midshipmen, officers, Faculty and Staff cultivate a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ through Bible reading, meditation, teaching, fellowship, and personal discipleship; Second, to build Christ-like character; Third, to equip them as servants and workers in advancing God's kingdom. This emphasis contributes both to the moral mission of the Naval Academy and affords the opportunity, to those so interested, in developing their faith in relation to their Naval career.

We are pursuing 6 Goals:

  1. Plebe ministry ... recruit them to "follow us as we follow Christ"
  2. Evangelism ... invite everyone!
  3. Ethnos ... all ethnicities and nations
  4. Community ... abiding in Christ together
  5. Disciplemaking ... intentional life-on-life® ministry
  6. Generations ... future disciple makers and servants

We are asking God to fulfill Zech 8:20-23: that we would have the reputation that “God is with us”, that we would enthusiastically invite others to join us, and that many would come!

Our Calling and Vision

Our Calling:  “To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom into the Nations through Spiritual Generations of Laborers living and Discipling among the lost.”®️

Our Vision:  “We see a vital movement of the Gospel, fueled by prevailing prayer, flowing freely through relational networks and out into the nations. Workers for the Kingdom are next door to everywhere!”

From the Yard, into the Nations, next door to everywhere

Our ministry doesn’t exist merely on the Naval Academy grounds but extends to the entire Navy, Marine Corps, United States, and world!

Our Values:

  • The passion to know, love and become like Jesus Christ
  • The truth and sufficiency of the Scriptures for the whole of life.
  • The transforming power of the gospel.
  • The leading and empowering of the Holy Spirit.
  • Expectant faith and persevering prayer rooted in the promises of God.
  • The dignity and value of every person.
  • Love and grace expressed among us in community.
  • Families and relational networks in discipling the nations.
  • Interdependent relationships in the Body of Christ in advancing the gospel.

What: Everyday Disciple Makers!!

Jesus commanded His followers to "make disciples ... teaching them to obey all” (Matthew 28:18-20) thus all His followers were to be DISCIPLE MAKERS! Navigators ministries believes Jesus came so that everyone who believes in Him "may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10) and were intended to "bear much fruit and so prove to be [His] disciples" to our Heavenly Father’s Glory (John 15:8). People need this abundant life that God offers through Jesus and the Holy Spirit’s filling in order to be fruitful. The heartbeat of The Navigators is discipleship. Jesus came alongside a few ordinary people at a pivotal point in history and walked with them so that they might know Him, make Him known, and make more DISCIPLE MAKERS

Our intent is to be amongst those we serve. We desire to show them Christ's love in a truthful and powerful way, that will change their lives forever. "We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God’s Good News but our own lives, too." (1 Thessalonians 2:8) DISCIPLE MAKERS are made through Life on Life® discipleship.
